Welcome to my Astronomy pages! I've been fascinated by the nightsky with its wealth of stars, nebulas, galaxies and planets for a long time. Depending on available spare time, I content myself with a quick gaze at some well-known constellations or I spent whole nights outdoors with telescope and camera, hunting exotic deep sky objects. On this page, you can find some visual results of my engagement in Astronomy. Have fun! Wolfgang

Observing |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Over time, I have used various equipment for observing and imaging. In the beginning was the 60mm shopping mall refractor. The first serious scope was a 6"-Newtonian, my first photographical experiments were made using a 8"-SC. Most images shown on this page were done using a russian 7"-Maksutov on a Losmandy mount as shown in the image. Due to lack of time, unfortunately, I had to sell this setup, currently I'm using a computer-controlled 5"-SC for quick glances at the skies.
It's not all that easy to find a suitable observation base in light-polluted central Europe. However, fortunately a mountain cabin is owned by my family (located on the Patscha, in the provicen of Styria, at about 1000m above sea level): On average, several nights a month are suitable for astronomy with a visual magnitude limit of 6mag. One has to be careful in Winter, however, temperatures easily reach 20° Celsius below zero. |
